[NEWS] 140722 Yeon Jung Hoon In ‘2014 Asia Le Mans Series’ : The Good & The Bad

As scheduled, Yeon Jung Hoon participated in the 4th round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific which also on the same bill as the Asian Le Mans Series. The racing event took place at the Inje Speedium International Circuit in Gangwon-do on July 19 to July 20. Yeon Jung Hoon who joined the race under amateur Coppa Shell class, recorded an amazing lap time of 28:47:667 on the first day of the race that made him the winner of the 1st place. His very first win in the Challenge race resulted in big applause and admiration from the fans. Started in Coppa Shell class in 2012, Yeon Jung Hoon has come a long way in this Challenge race series. He came in second during the qualifying race in Sydney and third during the final race in Shanghai. Including this race, Yeon Jung Hoon has been participated in the total of 18 race so far.

Jang Woo Hyuk, one of his fellow participants in ‘Road King’ also went to Inje Speedium on the second day of the race to support him. But unfortunately unlucky things occurred during the second race (finale), in which Yeon Jung Hoon had no choice but to retire from the race after an accident happened when he tried to overtake a leading car in the 6th lap. Even though he managed to overtake the first car, he couldn’t steer his car to avoid another car that came inward so suddenly. The front left bumper of his 458 Challenge EVO collided onto the right rear of the said car and due to that, his racing car had a problem and couldn’t continue to race any further.

However, Yeon Jung Hoon said in a press interview, he didn’t suffer from any injury because it was just a minor collision and the car damage wasn’t severe. Only the bumper and the wheel were damaged, the frame of the car was still fine. So, there would be no problem for him to participate again in the 5th round of the Ferrari Challenge APAC series that will be held at Fuji, Japan in the upcoming September.

Yeon Jung Hoon said he was extremely sorry and frustrated because he didn’t manage to finish the race. He also worried over how much the car repair will cost him. But despite all that, Yeon Jung Hoon said that he had learned a lot from the competition this time.
